![]() ![]() It all seems very logical but so do Rip & Madcow's sun tanning analogy counter arguments. Training frequency declined as strength and the ability to tax recovery went up as you are always working at your limit and you don't train again until you are fully recovered (subjective and hard to judge maybe). ![]() MEH might be able to fill in some more detail but I remember writer John Little (a big Mentzer fan) eventually (mid/late 80's?) promoting 2 sets aiming for 12 reps on set one and 8-12 set 2 - once you got 12 on the 2nd set the weight went up - 1 minute rest between sets - this was bodybuilding program rather than pure strength but you would obviously be moving heavy weights compared to most bodybuilding type routines. There was a lot of stuff about only doing one set of 3-4 reps such was the intensity, but I think Mike Mentzer eventually moved away from one set to failure and was doing 2-3 sets for maintenance/weight control. Do the same for deads but only one set, and maybe a few SLDLs as back off"Ī lot of hardcore HIT guys picked deadlift, dips and chins, performed slowly with a big emphasis on the negative. ![]()
